Intro: Glowing Snowman Card

This project was created for YuKonstruct's Chibitronics Build Night and uses a Chibitronics effects sticker and three LED stickers.

The effect sticker has three pads: + and – for power and a signal pad that generates the pattern. The signal pad is pre-programmed to switch between + and - which causes the lights connected to it to turn on and off.

YuKonstruct is the first makerspace in Canada's north. Our mission is to provide access to shared space, quality tools, available expertise, and a collaborative environment to help makers build anything!

For this card you'll need:

STEP 1: Make the Circuit

Fold a piece of blue cardstock in half to make a card.

Using the circuit diagram as a guide, apply the copper tape and Chibitronics stickers to the front of the card. For the best results, fold the copper tape to avoid tearing around corners. Test to make sure the circuit works by placing a bit of copper tape over the + side of the battery and copper spiral before proceeding to the next steps.

STEP 2: Add the Snowman and Ground

Glue the battery in place. Be careful to ensure it maintains contact with the copper tape.

Cut a snowman out of cardstock. Glue the snowman to the front of the card with small craft foam pieces to keep it raised over the LEDs.

Cut a strip of cardstock the width of the card to be the ground below your snowman. Apply a thick strip of copper tape to the back. Glue the edges of the ground piece to the front of the card.

STEP 3: Decorate

Pinch together the ground strip and card front with a bobby pin or paper clip. The card can be turned on and off by sliding the clip back and forth.

Decorate the card as desired.

STEP 4: Variations

Be creative and use other cardstock shapes or positions for the LEDs.
