Introduction: Golden Age Green Lantern
This is one of my favorite costumes. The priciest items is the Green Lantern Power Battery and Ring which you can find often on eBay, but which will run you anywhere from $100-$500 on average. The ring alone you can get for much cheaper, but I like having the power battery for authenticity. The shirt you can get from graphittidesigns.com, especially if you want the long sleeve for authenticity. The pants I got from a local store. The boots are standard red superhero boots available at a number of sites. I then used yellow tape to create the design and criss-cross. The mask was a simple plastic one from Michael's that I painted purple. The cape was the tricky part since it was two colors and needed to stand up at the top. I bought the two colors of fabric and hot glued them together to create the cape. For the stand up part, there is stiffening board available at most fabric store that adheres to the fabric when you iron it. I tucked a length of this in between the two colors (satins) and ironed before hot gluing it. I then put velcro strips on either side and bound the cape together with the rope and medallions that had velcro in them. All in all a cool costume which got me lots of compliments.
