Introduction: Golden Snitch Ring Box
Inspired by the wizarding contest, I decided to try my hand at making a golden snitch-themed ring box. To achieve the look I was going for, I used air hardening clay over an old ring box, which I then painted gold. I hope you find this instructable useful, and thanks for taking the time to read it!
Step 1: What You'll Need:
To make this wizarding ring box, you will need the following:
- A ring box
- Air hardening clay
- Some wool
- CA glue
- Gold paint
A ring is optional, but is also quite nice!
Step 2: Add Clay!
Pack clay all around both halves of the ring box. I added a small piece of paper in the opening so that it wouldn't get sealed up by the hardening clay.
Roll the clay-covered box around in your hands and on the table until it is circular. Keep checking that the ring box can be opened and closed fully throughout this process. Then, leave it to dry.
Step 3: Add String
I added simple designs to the snitch using black wool in these shapes. The colour of the wool doesn't matter a whole lot, as it will get covered by the paint.
I attached the wool using CA glue, as it would stick to both the clay and the wool.
Step 4: Paint It!
With your string applied and the glue fully set, we can now move on to painting the box. Lightly apply gold paints in thin, even coats to get better coverage over the whole piece.
Step 5: Done!
With that, you have your very own golden snitch ring box!
I hope you had fun, and thanks for taking the time to read it!
