better idea, type in the search box (of Google Earth's) the place where you want to zoom in, now before pressing enter, full zoom in in another area
When yu hit ENTER, the camera will zoom out from the present location, rotate the earth and then zoom into the search location, will give you a better effect.

Ugh... a thinly veiled ad for camstudio.

Really now? If an instructable features a hammer as the primary tool, does that make it an ad for hammers? Just relax. Even if you feel the video "wasted 3:45 minutes of you life" there is no need to waste more by writing a comment like that. Somebody may make use of this, which means it has served it's purpose. If you're not going to, that's well and dandy - just move on to the next one, like you were going to anyway. And don't clutter it's comments section with such useless feedback either.

I plan to make use of this with my 12 year old son. He knows quite a bit more about the video editing aspect than I do, but it will be a fun project for both of us...therefore, this instructable will definitely have served it's purpose, and I found it quite clever and entertaining.

Exactly. This was to make my son laugh--figured I'd pass it on.

My statement is based upon the fact that camstudio is simply a redundancy. Windows movie maker already has a video capture application, as well does Imovie, both of which come with most PCs or Macs. If a tool of equal quality is already there why require different tool to create the effect? Perhaps he had no intent to act as advertising for camstudio, but I have simply seen far too many instructables put up lately that are merely advertisements, and it is something we should be wary of lest instructables become overridden with them.

Tell you the truth, I wasn't aware of that function in Movie Maker. I guess it makes sense, but I haven't figured everything out in all aspects of computers. So, thanks for the tip.

Well then, that would make sense. Sorry about the confusion and the accusation. I have been doing video editing for quite a while, so if you need any tips or have any questions on things send me a message and I can help you out some.

I use Vegas 6 for my video editing--and I'm sure there is probably this function in this program as well--just too many things to learn out there! No worries, chainedflesh.

Vegas 6 is a good program. I often have troubles with the chroma key on it though. I often find that using the gamma settings will cause the background to show through the image you wish to display. I have tried FXhome a bit and their particle generator is fantastic even if it is a bit tricky to learn.

try Wax, I don't know about the others, but it's free, it's easy, and i know someone who did a very professional-looking project with it

I have tried WAX a little. The interface seemed a bit akward. I have seen the results from WAX and I must admit that they are impressive.

WAX is garbage. I used to use it but I h8 it now. I use MAGIX movie edit pro 12

Man, I wish I was getting paid by them for it. Actually, my intention was to provide a lesson for making this spy satellite effect. No other motives--sorry!

It is too fake looking...maybe if you climbed on your roof and zoomed in on the person.
