This instructable will show you the beneficial plants which I grow in my garden that not only can be eaten but also can be used as a herbal remedy.

Step 1: Eggplant

Nutritionally, raw eggplant is low in fat, protein, dietary fiber and carbohydrates

Step 2: Pea Eggplant

The pea eggplant can be eaten raw and added in a salad, it can also used to improve digestion.

Step 3: Okra

The leaves are also eaten raw in salads.

Okra seeds may be roasted and ground to form a caffeine-free substitute for coffee.

Step 4: Chili Pepper

What else? To spicy up your day!

Capsaicin is considered a safe and effective topical analgesic agent in the management of arthritis pain, herpes zoster-related pain, diabetic neuropathy, mastectomy pain, and headaches.

Step 5: The King's Salad

The King's Salad is also known as Cosmos caudatus which is edible

Its lemon-like flavor added pleasurable taste to your salad.

Step 6: Betel

Chewing a betel leaf with areca nut is a remedy for bad breath

Step 7: Papaya

The tender shoots can be added to your salad.

Papaya leaves when dry are made into tea.

The fruit is delicious.

Step 8: Water Cherry

The leaves are edible and are sometimes used to wrap food.

The wood is hard and can be used to make tools. The bark of the tree is sometimes used in herbal medicines.

The fruit has a very mild and slightly sweet taste similar to apples, and a crisp watery texture like the inside of a watermelon.

Step 9: Lemongrass

It has a subtle citrus flavor and can be dried and powdered, or used fresh. It is commonly used in teas, soups, and curries.

It is usually planted in home gardens to ward off insects such as whitefly adults.

Step 10: Curry Tree

Leaves from the curry tree can be used in many other dishes to add flavor.

The aroma of the leaves when put inside a cabinet will deter some pests.

Step 11: Water Spinach

Water spinach is eaten raw, often along with green papaya salad.

The tender shoots along with the leaves are usually stir-fried with chili pepper, garlic, ginger, dried shrimp paste and other spices

Step 12: Garden Balsam

The vivid flowers attract bees for pollination.

They are pollinated by bees and other insects, and also by nectar-feeding birds. The ripe seed capsules undergo explosive dehiscence

Different parts of the plant are used as traditional remedies for disease and skin afflictions. Juice from the leaves is used to treat warts and snakebite, and the flower is applied to burns. This species has been used as indigenous traditional medicine in Asia for rheumatism, fractures, and other ailments.

Juicing the stalk, pulverised dried stalks, and pastes from the flowers were also used to treat a variety of ailments.

Step 13: Sapodilla

When the fruit is fully ripe, it has an exceptionally sweet, malty flavor.

You can juice it to make a delicious-sweet drink with low calories.

Step 14: Goin' Bananas

Banana is eaten for its sugary and potassium content, mostly liked by energy-intensive person.

Banana hearts are used as a vegetable in South Asian and Southeast Asian cuisine, either raw or steamed with dips or cooked in soups, curries and fried foods. The flavor resembles that of artichoke.

Banana leaves are often used as ecologically friendly disposable food containers.

They often serve as a wrapping for grilling food.

Step 15: Bilimbi

The sourness of the fruit is usually added in dishes

The fruit can be used in many other dishes because of its sourness.

The flowers when added with honey and stir in a lukewarm water can relief sour throat.

Step 16: Afterword

The best purpose of growing herbs and plants that, IMO, are not only can be eaten or sold as cash crop but it's must also beneficial as a remedy for health or controlling pests whether in a short term or in a long term.

All the plants that I grow were from cuttings or non-GMO seeds.
