Introduction: Guitar Playing: Tapping
Well. i have written a total of 2 instructables so far (hoorah for number three!)
This is the beginning of a bunch of little cool things that make people better lead guitarists. forgive my terrible tablature. you get the picture.
This is basically an exercise that i came up with based on the tapping from Van Halen's Eruption
~~ I HIGHLY RECOMMEND YOU LEARN TO READ MUSIC BEFORE TABLATURE~~
Step 1: Tapping (two Handed)
Okay. this is a very good way to practise tapping, If you can't hammer very well, practise trills first and you need to read tab
t=tap with right hand (whatever finger you want usually index)
p=Pull Off
h-Hammer on

B|--------|
G|--------| Play this a few times
D|--------|
A|--------|
E|--------|
This is acheived by making a sortof, sweep movement practise this a bunch and you will be going good. play around and move it around, heres what i do for a tapping warmup (haha you perverts)
Play the taps as long as you want.

B|--------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
G|--------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
D|--------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
A|--------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
E|--------|---------|---------|---------|---------|---------|
continued below
e|-t9p2h5-|
B|--------|
G|--------|
D|--------| Do this pattern on each string, from 1st to 6th and
A|--------| back again
E|--------|
Step 2: Pull Off Arpeggios
Think thunderstruck. oh yea.
i dont need to give more detail then that.

Angus plays it live just like this. this is all done with the fretting hand. no picking. the recorded version isnt as challenging. practice this and impress your friends. i know i did. This is helpful once you can trill for as long as you want, because you need the strenghth to sustain the noise.
EDIT: Angus only plays it like this live, in records he plays every open B note with his pick

Hey, I have a guitar that (in my opinion) looks just as good as this one. I just got it, but it is probably the best guitar for soloing and tapping. I love it!

post video please? and could i put humbuckers on this guitar? would that make it sound any awesomer? what would? i have a big amp... its old though. please help!
Reply 13 years ago on Introduction
I don't know if this is the right place to post that question. And what pickups you use really depend on what sound you like. Go to the guitar store and try a couple out. I personally like humbucks best, but it is a matter of taste.

you can put a humbucker in if you have the routing for it.
