Step 1: Boil Water
Boil 1 cup of water.
Note: Each tea has a different recommended brewing time and temperature, but this mostly serves as a loose guideline.
I have found boiling water, or heating a tea kettle until steam releases, and letting it sit for 2-3 minutes afterwards generally works well across all tea types.
(Don't get scared! We mostly just want to avoid burning the tea... And we will.)

Step 2: Measure Loose Leaves and Pour Into Strainer
While the water is heating, measure 1 tbsp of loose leaf tea and place it into a strainer (double if making iced tea).
Set aside.
Note: Most tea strainers cost less than $5 USD. If you do not have a strainer, try using a cheese cloth.

Step 3: Pour Water Over Leaves and Let Sit for 5 Minutes
Once the water is ready, slowly pour it over the loose leaf tea.
Let sit for 5-6 minutes, or until desired flavor is reached. Tea will darken, become more flavorful and more aromatic as it sits.

Step 4: Remove Strainer and Add Sugar
Remove strainer.
Add 1-2 tbsp of rock sugar. The thick bits of sugar will slowly dissolve, creating a sweet flavor in every sip.
Note: White sugar, honey, maple syrup, cream or milk can be substituted or used in addition to the rock sugar. We all have a sweet tooth, so use as much or as little as you wish.

Step 5: Stir and Enjoy!
The tea is homebrewed to perfection, not-too-hot and totally ready to be served! Enjoy the tea with a book, friends or at work, and don't forget to get creative! There are numerous flavor profiles and endless combinations to be had... Experiment and have fun brewing one of the most-loved beverages in the world.
