Instead of doing all of that process, just evenly paint your finger with pva glue and just peel it off afterwards. It works.

I am not sure how that would work. Because when you peel the glue, the ridges on your finger would be valleys in the print and valleys would be ridges. So you see it would be the mirror image of your fingerprint.

but the fingerprint scanners...dont they work by transmitting little electric impulses between the catodes of the scanner?

Not all the scanners work that way, for e.g. the one shown in this project uses a light-based sensor.

Dude, its a hack. Why anyone do a hack? because they can ;-). Think harder, you will definetly get some ideas, where you can use it.
