Intro: Halloween Monster Plant Prop

Introducing the new member to our Halloween family! I have wanted to make a version of Audrey 2 (from "Little shop of Horrors") for a long time, so here is my 'distant' relative to her.

STEP 1:

Dollar store goodies that I collected to make my Audrey 2 or as my boys say my Piranha plant from Mario Bros.

STEP 2:

Split foam ball for head and cover with painters tape. Use cut of pieces to make tongue.

STEP 3:

Molding clay to add texture and the shape of the lips.

STEP 4:

Start the painting fun.

STEP 5:

Lots of layers

STEP 6:

Pumpkin teeth but they were to narrow and needle like so I added girth and texture with my hot glue gun.

STEP 7:

Letting the paint dry on the teeth and time to paint the inside of the mouth.

STEP 8:

Aging the teeth with yellow and black wash.

STEP 9:

Base made from spare piece of wood I had at home.

STEP 10:

Time to add the teeth with extra glue for support.

STEP 11:

Pretty!!!

STEP 12:

Rocks at the bottom to add weight for stability. Extra piece on left is to attach the head.

STEP 13:

Stapled the tongue on the extended piece and drilled holes through the wood to attach the face with wire.

STEP 14:

All wired on and drilled the wood pice to the base. The top was too low so I added a cork to give space.

STEP 15:

Filled in the base with flower foam and added moss. I added all the leaves I had and stole a bunch of random leaves from other fake plants around the house.

STEP 16:

Lots of leaves and floral wire for the curly cues.

STEP 17:

Cheese!! A happy monster plant!!!

You did an incredible job on this. So creative. I'm not into Halloween but I'll probably make something like this (although not nearly as good as yours). I reference this plant a lot (with our own yard). Thanks for sharing your awesome talent.
Absolutely wonderful! I've got to make one!

Very cool, needs to be in a Maxwell House Coffee tin though ;)

Lol!! I forgot about that!! I knew I wouldn’t be able to make it just like Audrey, so I feel like she would be a distant cousin. Hence the pot!! (that could be a valid excuse right?!) hehe

I love it! Been wanting to make an Audry 2 for years. Couldnt figure out how to start. Thanks for this awesome Instructable!

FUN-TA-STICk WONDERFUL PROJECT. Thanks for sharing.

Hi Carol,

I can see someone (a retailer) carrying these. If I had one, I would put it on my window sil for fun. Maybe you can patent the idea by sending yourself dated photos by Post. Don't open the envelope and that way it's legal. Then talk different manufacturers about letting them have the idea for a percentage of the profits....

Fantastic work! I love your project. You did a very good job.

OMG, I love this so much! I have three bog gardens outside - 2 - 30 gallon tubs and an old wheelbarrow - I've kept carnivores for years, and this is just amazing. I'm always saying that I'm going to grow an Audrey Jr :-D. I want to build one of these so badly! Maybe one day I'll have the time. Thank you for the amazing 'ible!

ahaaa I love this! Well done :)

Beautiful. I can almost hear it :-)

You have absolutely no idea how much I enjoyed this Instructble. KJ

Well done! The details, colors, textures all came together so nicely. This is a great looking Audrey 2. My kids would ID it as a piranha plant too though. Ha! : )
