Introduction: Handmade Tea Light Holders

So I decided that I was going to show you how to make some simple yet elegant tea light holders that add a modern/contemporary touch to any room.
This is a great beginners project for those who want to get into wood working or just want to add some spice to their home.
What you will need;
- 4 roughly 18" x 3" planks (Any wood will do, it up to you!)
- 2 standard clamps
- Any wood Glue
- A handsaw of some kind, miter saws will work best however.
- A 1 5/8" Forstner drill bit
- A cordless drill (not pictured)
- Sand paper/Palm Sander (not pictured)
- Your choice of stain (optional)

Step 1:
Begin to laminate your planks together using your wood glue.
- I like to spread the glue with a pen or pencil to achieve an even coat throughout.
Once you are finished, Apply your clamps and leave things to dry overnight.

Step 2:
Now that the glue is dry you will notice you have a pretty rock solid piece.
- If you have any glue seeping out or uneven boards don't worry about it, you can easily sand everything flush.
Now begin to cut the board to your desired lengths.
-I recommend 3", 6" and 9"
-Also, it may be a good idea to cut the end off of one side so you have a better base from which to measure.

Step 3:
Now that you 3 blocks cut to size you can begin drilling the holes for your tea lights with your forstner bit.
- Find exact center by making an x over the top from corner to corner.
- Try to drill as strait and even as possible.
- Drill to about 1/2" depth, but don't worry about going a little to deep

Step 4:
Now that that is finished, only two more things to do!
Use your sandpaper to bring the holders to a nice smooth finish.
-This will go a lot faster with an orbital sander.
(optional)
Apply your chosen stain!
And that's it! Enjoy your new decor!
