Intro: Hanging Planter From Trash

This hanging planter is an environmentally friendly option for gardening. Essentially, this planter is made only out of an old candle jar and a grocery bag.

STEP 1: Step 1: Clean Out Candle Jar

Taking out the old wax from a candle can be as easy as melting it and pouring it out, or simply taking a sharp object to crack the wax and pry it out as a whole.

STEP 2: Step 2: Make Grocery Bag Rope

To make this rope, take a grocery bag and cut into strips, the heavier your jar or plant, the thick the strips should be cut. Take three of these long strips and tie a knot at the top. Begin braiding the strips together to form a stronger rope. If your braided piece is not long enough you can tie two pieces together. Continue doing this until you have 2 long strips.

STEP 3: Step 3: Tie Rope and Hang the Plant

Now, take the grocery bag rope and tie them together at the center of the pieces to make a beg for the jar. Plant the plant into the jar or place the planted plant into the jar. Then put the jar at the center of the rope and tie the ends of the pieces at the top of the plant, this works as a place to hang the plant off a hook with.

Comments

To get longer plastic bag strips, you can cut the bag in a spiral. I do it that way to crochet with it, but braiding is probably better to hold the growing pot. Depends how high, or low, the pot needs to hang - and how wide the strips end up. Thanks for the constructions!
