Introduction: Apple Honey Twist

Instructions for a delicious but healthier dessert/snack made from local ingredients.

Step 1: Gather Material

  • Twist ingredient:
  • 2 cups of unbleached flour (240 grams)
  • 1 tbs of Baking Powder (227 grams)
  • 2 tbs of sugar (25 grams)
  • Dash of salt (¼ grams)
  • 1 stick of homemade fresh churned butter (125 grams)
  • 1 fresh (from chicken) egg (50 grams)
  • ½ cup of milk (115 grams)
  • Honey 1 tbs
  • 2 graded apples peeled
  • Glaze ingredient:
  • Vanilla (13 grams)
  • Powdered sugar (2.6 grams)
  • Milk (15 grams)
  • Equipment:
  • Oven
  • Cookie pan
  • Wax paper
  • Cheese grater
  • mixer/bowel and spoon (for mixing)

Step 2: The Making Process

  1. Mix the dry ingredients
  2. Cut in butter with dry mix
  3. Add egg and milk to dry mix
  4. Stir/mix till well equalized
  5. Roll the mix into rectangle about 12 inches by 18 inches
  6. Grade 2 peeled apples and mix with 1 tbs of honey and 1 tsp of cinnamon in a bowel
  7. Spread step 4 (when finished stirring) on any ½ of the rectangular “dough”
  8. Evenly Fold the “dough” over mix
  9. Cut into one inch strips towards or away from the fold
  10. Twist each strip once or twice
  11. Place on parchment lined baking sheet and bake at 400 degrees Fahrenheit for 10 mins
  12. Make glaze while the twist are baking
  13. Mix glaze ingredients
  14. Stir well Allow twist to cool then spread glaze evenly over each twist
