Introduction: Happy Meal on a Stick

About: I am ahat enthusiest. I collect them and make them. I currently live in Istanbul, but used to live in Tajikistan and before that Kentucky.
When I saw the Stuff on a Stick contest, I immediately thought, 'What is a classic American meal?' The first thing that popped into my head was a cheeseburger, french fries and a coke. So I set to work and finally finished, with a few adjustments to make it my own.

Step 1: Supplies

6-7 cups of flour*
3 tablespoons of sugar*
1 tablespoon of salt*
2 tablespoons of shortening*
2 packages of yeast*
2 1/4 cups of milk*
*(or frozen dough )
Wooden skewer
Popsicle stick
Paper cup
Frying oil
Potato
Ground beef
Lawry's Seasoned Salt ( or regular salt)
Pepper
Shredded cheese
1 egg
oven
freezer
thermometer
lemon (optional)

Step 2: Cokesicle

This is actually a pretty simple step. All you need is a paper cup, coke, aluminum foil, and a Popsicle stick (or a chopstick). Simply pour coke into the cup, not all the way (I added some lemon juice), then wrap the top in the foil. Then insert the Popsicle stick into the foil and place in freezer for several hours. This will depend on your freezer.

Step 3: The Burger Dog

The first item is the burger dog.  I was going to do a cheese burger, but that wasn't different enough. So the first step is the hamburger buns. Here is the recipe I use.

Hamburger Buns

6-7 cups of flour
3 tablespoons of sugar
1 tablespoon of salt
2 tablespoons of shortening
2 packages of yeast
2 1/4 cups of milk

Pour milk into a small sauce pan and add shortening. Scald milk over medium high heat (until small bubbles start to form around the perimeter of the pan). Remove from heat and cool to lukewarm temperatures. Mix 3 ½ cups of flour, the salt, and the sugar in a large bowl. Add the cooled milk and beat for 1 minute- add remaining flour until the dough pulls away from the sides of the bowl. Put dough onto floured surface and knead it with floured hands until it is smooth and elastic. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover it with a towel and let it rise for 1 hour. Then punch down the dough and let it rise again for 40 minutes.

(There will be some leftover dough, so prepare some freezer space)

Step 4: The Burger Dog: Part II

Next prepare your meat. Take one pound of  ground beef. Put it in a large bowl and add one raw egg, a teaspoon of Lawy's Seasoned Salt, and a few pinches of pepper. Then crack one egg into it so it will mold easier. Work the meat thouroughly with your hands (Make sure they are washed). Once the meat meat is mixed weigh out four grams on a scale. Once you have the right amount, shape it like a hot dog and insert your wooden skewer. Then shred your favorite cheese and stick as much as you want to the meat. Next weigh out 50 grams of your dough and flatten it out a bit to make it slightly longer, but wider than your burger dog. Place the burger do on the dough (see picture) and wrap the dough around it, pinching it firmly to close. Finally put it in the oven for 25-30 minutes at 350 degrees F.

Step 5: Bloomin Potato

For the "french fries" take a pot and put it on a stove. Fill it with enough oil so that it would be able to completely submerge a potato and then add some more. Turn on your stove and put the thermometer in. Now take your raw potato and cut off one of the ends to make sure it can stand up straight. Next insert a wooden skewer all the way through so that the potato is on the bottom of the skewer. Now you want to cut the potato. Start by cutting on the side of the potato, vertically so that there is about a half inch before the flat bottom, see pictures. Cut about a quarter inch away from that slice, etc. Then do the same thing the other way and slide the potato back to the other side of the skewer. When your oil has heated to 350 degrees put the potato in (see picture) for 5-7 miuntes, constantly rotating it, or until golden brown.

Step 6: Final Step

Now take your cokesicle out of the freezer. By now it should be frozen, but if not, let sit in freezer another hour or so and microwave your dog and fry. To remove cokesicle run the side of the cup under warm water and tear away the paper cup. To eat the fries you simply pull off a fry, dip it in ketchup, and eat it. ENJOY!
