Introduction: Harry Potter Wand Pencils
This is an easy craft to make for yourself or for friends. You can also make the same thing on longer sticks for real wands. Let's get started!
Step 1: Materials
What you'll need:
Unsharpened pencils
Hot glue and hot glue gun
Brown paint (I used purple, orange, and black to make the perfect color)
Clear gloss (as shown in last step) or Mod Podge
Step 2: Hot Glueing
Begin by turning on your glue gun. When it is hot enough, design the handle of your wand with the hot glue. Only apply the hot glue on the top half of the pencil. Also, you can leave the eraser uncovered if you want to use it later, but I glued over the erasers on my pencils.
Step 3: Painting
First, mix up your paint to make the right hue of brown. I used purple, orange, and black, or you can mix gold and black. I used the same amount of each color to make the right color brown.
Next, take a paintbrush (or a foam paintbrush), and paint the whole pencil with brown, except the bottom of the pencil, which will be sharpened later.
Step 4: Protective Gloss
To protect the paint from chipping or coming off, I sprayed my pencils with clear gloss, which you can find at a hardware store. Or, you can use clear Elmer's glue or Mod Podge. This gives the pencil a shiny protective coat.
Step 5: Finishing
When your pencils are finished drying, time to sharpen your pencils, or you can give them away as regular (miniature) wands.
