Introduction: Hidden Drawer With Pop of Color

About: We're Mother Daughter Projects, sharing our DIY adventures as we learn to maintain, improve, decorate, and use tech in our homes.

Steph wanted a way to store her growing collection of miniature board games as well as a way to elevate a piece of greyhound art.

This fun project accomplishes both of those objectives! Plus, there's a surprise splash of color inside.

Step 2: Cut and Paint

The measurements of the box are based on the dimensions of the statue that will sit on top of it.

We are using all the colors of the rainbow! Steph taped all the diagonals before adding paint.

Once dry, the remaining colors were added.

With wood glue, clamps, and a lot of weights, the box and drawer were assembled.

Step 3: Display and Fill

Here it is in place under the greyhound statute! The height gives the statue much more presence in this space.

Open the secret drawer and there are the miniature games!

This project is a perfect example of why we DIY--seeing a need in our homes and customizing and personalizing something to work with that need!
