Hidden Minecraft Stairs

Introduction: Hidden Minecraft Stairs

About: aspiring electrical engineer, Proficient Zombie Fighter, Nerf Redesigner

So it seems you have an excess of materials, and of redstone. Maybe you want to hide them in a nice underground location. Then again there always seem to be those darn people who can always seem to find those underground hide out. Well then you have come to the right place; I hope to show you how to build a set of hidden stairs of my own design. As a note this instrucable will mainly show the building through pictures(yay pictures!). I have only tested this system on 1.7.6 to 1.7.10, so I am not sure it will work on anything newer, or anything pre 1.7.

Materials: (Note these are for shown version, requirements vary with distance of buttons.)

20 Repeaters

70 Pieces of Redstone

4 Pistons

12 Sticky Pistons

8 Torches

2 Buttons

I have the handwritten diagrams for anyone who can make them out.

Step 1: The Basic Area

To begin you need an 8(L)*16(W)*8(H) rectangular hole in the ground. This will be the area that you will use to make the stairs in.

Step 2: Lifter

To begin come five blocks back from the front and one away from the wall, then put a series of redstone and repeaters as shown in the picture above. Next you put three columns of sticky pistons in front of the first set of repeaters. Then will arrange a series of blocks as show in the third picture so you can lay out the required redstone. The set the redstone and repeaters as they are in the third picture.

Step 3: The Puller Mechanism

Step 4: T Flips

Note both T Flip Flops must start on the right side from the side across from the The T Flip Flops.

Step 5: The Timing Sequence

Step 6: Input

Step 7: Finishing It Up

Add linkages to wherever you want to be able to open you stairs from to the purple section before the dropped down block, and fill in the falling material (which includes sand gravel and red sand). Then try out one of the buttons and verify that it works. Then fill up the rest of the top with what ever you want to cover you stairs mechanism with and enjoy. IF anything does not work message me, and I will do my best to help you troubleshoot.

Although not the most compact design I have seen: Certainly has some originality to it!

What parts do you think need to be edited for clarity (sorry this was my first instructable)?
