Introduction: High Performance Guillotine
Believe it or not, but this is my semestral project. I know, it sound weird, but believe me. We really have a subject that is dedicated to modelling and 3D printers. We were told to make digital prototype of some mechanism and then print it out. It looks easy, doesn't it? Of course it wasn't so easy, it has to be lighter than 70 grams, it must have 2 speeds (in one way it goes slowly, in second it goes as fast as possible) and of course there were dimensions restrictions. I just wanted you to know this before you start commenting that it should be tougher, bigger....
If you decide to print it, just keep in mind that the main part is 140mm tall and the bed must be minimum 160x100mm wide.
Things you will need:
- some 3D printer (optional - you can also make it from the wood, maybe)
- about 70 grams of filament (in case you have chosen the 3D printing way)
- 4 screws M3x20 and 8 nuts M3
- about 4 hours of time
Step 1: Step 1: Print All the Parts
There is one part that may be little bit complicated to print, which is the stand. So here are some tips:
- Use glue stick (I know, it sounds weird but the paper glue is the best thing you can get). After the print is done put some water on the bed (be careful with the water, only few milliliters), this glue is water soluble.
- When you get to the pillars cool as much as you can (works with PLA, PET-G)
- Set vertical lift when retracting. Usually it is set to zero, change it to 0,5mm.
