Introduction: High Power Simple Buck Converter (Low Side N-Ch MOSFET)

We will discuss how to build a Buck Converter with single LOW Side N-Channel-MOSFET. We will also look at how we can tune the circuit easily and what mistakes to avoid when building buck converter.

Supplies

1x n-channel MOSFET (IXTQ52N30P)

1x Diode (30ETH06)

1x Inductor 40uH (although the bigger the better)

1x Output Capacitors 180uF (also, more the better)

1x Input Capacitor 3uF

Step 1: Buck Converter. Building and Tuning.

In this video, we will discuss how to build a Buck Converter with single LOW Side N-Channel-MOSFET. We will also look at how we can tune the circuit easily and what mistakes to avoid when building buck converter. I gave some tips in the video on how to avoid inductor saturation, and how to keep buck converter operating in CCM (Continuous conduction mode)

Step 2: Stress Testing

In this video I will be stress testing my buck converter circuit at 160V with a toaster oven and also share some upgrades I made to the circuit.
