Step 2: Step 2

First I am going to lay all my materials on the table neatly and check to see if i am missing materials. It is really important to take your time with this project. This craft requires paitence and being attentive to detail. It is important to not have any distractions. Also plan out a good time in your day to do this project so that you not rushing through the procedure.

Step 3: Step 3

It is important to make sure that the electrical tools are charged and ready for use. Depending on the tools brand that is used will vary on how long it takes for the tools to charge. Usually the tools will take 30 minuted to an hour to charge. So once your tools are ready for use, it is time to put on your safety goggles and safety gloves. If you are a minor, I reccomend that an adult assist with sawing of the wood for safety reasons.

Step 4: Step 4

Lay the plank of wood flat on the table. Grab the pencil and ruler and draw a vertical line on wood, so it would be clear whereto saw the wood. Make sure the plank of wood is laying horizontal on the table and the lines drawn in pencil on the wood are vertical.Try to draw light lines on the wood so that it can be easily erased. For example, I sawed my piece of wood in thirds to accomplish creating my shelf.

Step 5: Step 5

Next I put the wooden plank hanging off the table right at my first penciled line where it can sawed. Make sure the ruler is being used. Once again as stated earlier it is important to have an adult assist with the usage of a electrical saw or any tool in general. Once the wood it cut, gently place it to side in a safe place where it will not be misplaced. Make sure the divided areas on the wood by pencil are showing that there will be one long piece of wood along with two small pieces of wood.

Step 6: Step 6

Repeat the same procedure with the other vertical penciled in line on the other side of the wooden plank. Once again have the wood hanging off the table right where the penciled line appears so the wood can be easily and safely cut. Make sure an adult is assisting with the electric tool. Once the wood is cut gently place that piece of to the side also in a safe place. There should be one long piece of wood along with two small pieces of wood.

Step 7: Step 7

Now I have my three pieces of wood of different sizes. The two smallest sizes, I want to turn the two small squared into triangles. Once a again I am going to use my ruler and pencil and draw my lines. I will take my first square and turn it around where there are one pointy tip facing upwards and pointing downwards, almost like a diamond. I am going to draw a vertical line going from tip to the other. I am going to do this to both small squares. I actually had my Dad really help with this because of the small pieces of wood. My parents did not want my fingers to get injured. My Dad had half of the square hanging off the table and sawed the two pieces of wood making two tiny triangles.

Step 8: Step 8

Next I grabbed four screws and the electrical drill so the two triangles can be screwed to longer piece of wood. Make sure the triangles are flushed against the bottom of the flat piece of wood. This step may require one person holding the vertical triangle pieces of wood under the horizontal long piece of wood while another person use the electrical drill to screw the screws entering the top of the shelf and exiting out through the triangles. Once that is done, wiggle the freshly screwed in triangles under the shelf to make sure the triangles are tightly screwed in the shelf.

Step 9: Step 9:

Gather your spray paint and find a spray paint friendly area. It is recommended to spray paint on a non windy day. Make sure the clothes are being worn are clothes that would be okay to get dirty paint stains. T laid the wooden shelf on the table and used the yellow spray paint first. Make sure the spray can is at 5 inches away from the shelf. I sprayed only wear it is visible to eye when being placed on the shelf. After waiting for the yellow spray paint to dry. I gather my decorative butterfly and blue spray paint and held the butterfly in front of the shelf. I srayed the blue spray paint over the butterfly like a stencil.

Step 10:

Leave your shelf in an area where it would not be touched. To be safe wait about an hour for the shelf to completely dry. Gather a pencil and a ruler and find a space on the wall where you would like to hang your shelf. Draw a straight horizontal line with your ruler, make the line almost as long as the shelf. Drill one nail at a time on each end of the line. If needed ask an adult for help. When all done gently place your shelf on top of nails on the wall. Wiggle the shelf to make sure it is secure and will not fall off. There you go, you just created your own creative unique awesome homemade shelf. Enjoy!
