Introduction: Honeycomb Stackable Planter, 3D Printed

This is an Instuctable on how to make/model a Stackable Honeycomb Planter in Tinkercad.

I made this nice looking design to put in front of the window on the windowsill to grow small garden herbs.
You can also print it bigger and put some bigger plants in there.

The weight of the potting soil is heavy enough that it will stand sturdy on its own without clicking or sliding al the components together.
You can print as few or as many, and stack them however you want!

I don’t have a big 3D printer so I can’t print it myself, thats why I made the renders with Cinema 4D.

Step 1: Materials

Things you need to have:
- 3D Printer
- Filament
- Potting soil

Things you can choose yourself:
- Plants
- Seeds
- Small decorative pebbles
- Whatever you want to put in the planter

Step 2: Modelling Planter

First you make an account on Tinkercad.
Once you did that you start a new project.

There are pictures that make the steps a bit clearer, and to understand where to put what.

Create a polygon (Polygon-1) with the size 173x87x150mm (see picture).
Create a second polygon (Polygon-2, 157x117x136mm). and pit it in the middle of Polygon-1 (see picture).
Make Polygon-2 a hole, select Polygon-1 and Polygon 2 and group them together (see pictures).

Now there is a hole in Polygon-1

Create a polygon (Polygon-3, 173x7x150mm), and put it at the end of Polygon-1 (see picture).
Make a box (Box-1), and make it around the same size and position as in the picture, and make it a hole.
Select Polygon-3 and Box-1 and group them together.

Copy and past it, and put it at the beginning of Polygon-1 (see picture).

Select en group everything.
Now your Honeycomb planter is complete!
Export it and print it with your 3D printer.

If you want to stack more planters on top of each other, you have to model a simple stand to do that.

You can also download my STL file to print.

Step 3: Modelling Stand

Start a new project.

Create a polygon (Polygon-1, 173x87x150mm)(see picture).
Create a big box (Box-1) and put it just like in the picture that it wit cut off in the middle of Polygon-1.
Make the box as a hole (see picture).

Select Polygon-1 and Box-1 and group them together.
Now the Polygon is cut in half and you can put it on the ground floor (see picture).

Now the stand is done and you only have to export it and print it!

You can also download my STL file to print.

Step 4: Planting/Decorating

Once the printing is done, you can plant and decorate it however you like!

I made some renders with a plant in the middle but the idea is to but in garden herbs.
If you put in a plant, you can also grow some moss or put in some pebbles to make it look even better!

Step 5: End

I hope you liked my idea and instructable!
If so, please vote for me in the Planter Contest and share it with the people who would like this instructable.

Thanks and have fun with your Stackable Honeycomb Planter!

P.s. If you make it please post some pictures I’d like to see all of your end results!
