Introduction: Horrific Houseplant Costumes: Ferocious Ficus and Rest in Peace Lily
Here's how to make scary costumes for your House Plants...And turn your living room into a Little Shop Of Horrors.
Here's a list of your Tools and Materials required:
Materials:
Stryrofoam balls, acrylic paints, vampire fangs, crepe paper sheets, pins, floral wire and tape
Tools:
Hot glue gun, knife, wire cutters, scissors
Step 1: Make the Pod
Cut styrofoam balls in half. I used a kitchen knife.
Step 2: Add Color
Paint the outsides green and the insides red..add red lips to the cut sides of the balls. Let dry.
Step 3: Give It Teeth
Insert the teeth between the cut halves of the ball.
Step 4: Put It Together
Use a straight pin to secure the halves of the ball back together and use hot glue in the corners to secure the teeth.
Step 5: Make Foliage
Cut sheet crepe paper into strips with a squiggley bottom. Out of a darker color, cut leaf shapes too.
Step 6: Build the Pod
Wrap around the outside of the ball with the squiggley crepe paper and hot glue in place.
Step 7: Make the Sappy Drool
Use hot glue on the fronts of fangs to create a sappy drool. Let harden.
Step 8: Wire It Up
Insert floral wire, (1 foot long- bent in half) into the back of the stryofoam ball with an end in each half.
Secure with hot glue and wrap crepe paper to cover back of ball and hot glue.
Step 9: Finishing Touches
Wrap wire with floral tape.
Glue on leaves and wrap floral tape to end....
And then wrap the wire around the tree branch!
Mwah-hahahahah!
Step 10: Rest in Peace Lily Instructions
Rest In Peace Lily is just a much larger styrofoam ball, painted like an eye and wrapped with cut crepe paper, hot glued in place. It is anchored with a bamboo skewer.

What size of Styrofoam balls are these? I want the teeth to fit like yours did.

They are 3 inch I think but the teeth are small cheap flexi ones... My suggestion is buy teeth first and then buy balls to match.

This is very cool, something I would have never thought of and executed very nicely as well. Good job!

Does this remind anyone else of Aliens?

It would be cool to make a bunch of these and make yourself into a plant. You could take a long-sleeve shirt and paint it green to match, use felt to make a bunch of foliage, then affix these pods all over your upper body.
