Introduction: Hot Glue Phone Case
Has your phone case ever broken? Then this is the instructable fit you! I made this after my phone case cracked right before Halloween and so I decided to try my hand at making my own with parchment paper, hot glue and time. Enjoy!
Step 1: Gather the Material
1. Hot glue gun and glue sticks (I used a low temp one because I was a bit paranoid about having hot glue next to my phone)
2. Parchment paper (not wax paper because the glue will stick to it... Ask me how I know ?)
3. Tape
4. Permanent marker
5. Nail Polish or Acrylic paint (I chose a nail polish that doesn't suit me very well and that I was about to toss)
Step 2: Wrap Your Phone in Parchment Paper
So this is how you are going to make your case the correct size, wrap a piece of parchment paper around your phone as tight to the edges as you can. At this point I tried to tape it together but the tape wouldn't really stick so I made it as tight as I could and put the folded side down.
Step 3: Mark the Ports and Speakers
So you'll want to grab that marker and trace out the power/volume buttons, charging /earphone port, camera and anything else important so your case won't cover it.
Step 4: Start Gluing Your Case
So now that you have all that done you'll want to put the phone down on another piece of parchment paper and go around the bottom edge of the phone with the hot glue gun. After that I did the top edge and connected them while still avoid the area marked with marker. Make sure connect then well especially at the corner to provide protection for your phone.
Step 5: Make a Design
Now we add our design! I chose to do a spooky spider web to go with a Halloween theme but you could easily do whatever strikes your fancy. I choose to sketch my design on the paper just to see what it would turn out like, but again whatever floats your boat.
Step 6: Add Hot Glue to Your Design
Alright so now comes the fun part! This is where your vision comes to life as you freehand or trace your design. Make sure your edges are well connected and that the lines of glue are thick enough to stay together through thick and thin!
Step 7: Paint the Case
Now that the case is made now you'll want to make it super cool by adding a splash of color, use your imagination and make it just how you want it, the sky's the limit!
Step 8: Show Off Your Cool New Case
Yay, you did it ? now go show the world your creations!

Will it ruin the phone if you use a normal hot glue gun?
Question 3 years ago on Step 1
Soooo what if freezer paper was used by accident and the paper is stuck to the glue. Is there a way to get it off?

Kewl! I've seen alot of these before. One tip would be to add a design (like you did) with the hot glue because it's not hot/melty enough to make a smooth case. :3

The only thing I'm wondering though is if my iPod touch would overheat? IDK I just got it so I'm a bit paranoid about this XD

Nice! A custom phone case that you can actually make at a reasonable price. And if you make the glue thick enough it might give some amount of impact protection.
