Introduction: Hoverboard Motor Becomes a Hand-cranked Generator!
In this project I will show you how to turn a motor from an obsolete hoverboard into something quite useful. We will be building a hand-cranked generator with it that can charge up a powerbank in emergency situations. Along the way I will show you how such a motor works, how we can modify it and how we can turn its AC output voltage into smooth 5V DC for our powerbank. Let's get started!
Step 1: Watch the Video!
Step 2: Order Your Components!
Here you can find a parts list with example seller (affiliate links):
Hoverboard Motor: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_9AKNcs
Slip Ring: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_AUXur0
1N5817 Diode: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_Al2ccc
5F Supercapacitor: https://s.click.aliexpress.com/e/_ACW1QG

Step 3: 3D Print the Hand Crank!
Here you can find the .stl files for the hand crank. Use them to 3D print your own.
Step 4: Build the Circuit!
Here you can find the schematic for the project along with reference pictures of my finished board. Use them to create your own circuit.
Step 5: Success!
You did it! You just made your own hand-cranked generator!
