Introduction: Hovercraft Made With 4 Materials !
This is a project I made a long time ago. I then remembered how to make it and now I love playing with it. This is like the hovercrafts people make in big sizes but I made the mini size.
The physics is pretty easy. The cap equally sends air from the balloon to the bottom of the CD. This makes a small levitation making it almost frictionless!
NOTES TO TAKE :
- You have to use the same cap I used for it to work. Not the exact dimensions but the mechanism of the cap should be like mine.
- Please don't use important CDs because you can not retrieve it back.
Enjoy!
Supplies
- Balloon
- Hot glue
- CD
- Dishwasher cap
- Tape (optional)
Step 1: Cap Gluing
Take the cap and put glue on the bottom. Please don't put too much and be careful with the hot glue!
Step 2: Glue Cap to CD
Glue the cap right in the middle of the CD. Please make sure the hole under the CD is not blocked by glue!
Step 3: Blow Your Balloon and Attach It
Blow the balloon not too big. A big balloon can slow it down. then attach the balloon to the cap when the cap is blocked not open so that air can not escape.
Step 4: Bonus Step
If your balloon is tilting when it is on the cap, add some tape to the stem so that it can stay up.
Step 5: Enjoy!
To start running it, just lift the cap so it is open. Then watch it move around the table.
Note
- Run it in a smooth place for it to work!
