Introduction: How to Easily Peel Any Citrus HACK

Here I have found a simple yet effective way to 'peel' an orange.

It is really easy and you won't waste and of your fruit doing it this way.

It only works on segmented fruits.

Read on to find out how!

If I won the formlabs contest, I would begin making useful pieces with the 3D printer.
I have seen the printers before and I have a million ideas running through my head as to what I could make!

Step 1: Materials

You will need the following:

  1. Plate or breadboard to cut on.
  2. Sharp knife.
  3. Segmented fruit of your choice.

Mandarins work best for a first-timer because they are loose.

Step 2: Method Part 1/2

First we need to cut both ends off of the fruit. Cut about 1cm off either end like shown.

Now find the joint between two segments. This should be fairly easy.

Make a shallow cut around half of the orange and be sure it lines up with the joint of the segment otherwise it will be harder to open.

Make sure your previous cut was straight. If it is you can go ahead and cut half way through the orange.

Now, move on to step 3.

Step 3: Method Part 2/2

You now have to dig your thumbs into the cut you made and pull it apart. It is hard at first, but once you have done it a few times you will get the hang of it.

Once peeled, the segments may only separate into groups of two or three. This is fine!

This method will work on all segmented fruits.
