Intro: How to Easily Use Key Rings

Key rings are annoying. It's a pain to open them, and sometimes they snap shut before you manage to get the key on them. Fortunately, you can solve this problem with a quarter
*Mobile users: if the video doesn't play click on "MVI 0893" and it will open.

Instructions

- Get a coin about the size of a quarter.
- Press the edge of the coin against the key ring at a 45 degree angle, near where it opens; the coin will slide under part of the key ring, lifting the end up.
- Apply pressure to the coin so that it lifts up the end of the key ring enough to slide the key on. Then slide the key on.
- Remove the coin and slide the key on the rest of the way.

And then the ring is so stretched out that it isn't good anymore. It isn't safe to keep key on and it catches on your clothing.

I like your method. It holds the ring open while I slide the key on. I have used just the key in the past but too often it was difficult to open all the way and sometimes the key would pop off before I could slide it all the way on, especially with a large key. Your way is so much easier and faster. Thanks!

Good idea. Using a staple remover works even easier.

Staple removers are indeed awesome for opening up a key ring. But staple removers are slightly less ubiquitous than coins, so knowing both methods should help you level up to MacGyver status.

Yeah, that's what I was thinking. Most people always have a couple coins with them.

I always have my fingernails with me, so that is what I use.

By using it in the same manner they're suggesting here, but instead of having a coin in the way, your key will be in position. As that's what you're trying to fit anyway.
