Introduction: How to Make a Mosaic for Beginners
Introduction: These instructions will guide beginners through the process of making a mosaic. These instructions assume that you have some art abilities, such as gluing. There are a few steps that need to be taken before beginning to create your mosaic.
What You’ll Need:
· Sheet of wood
· Colored glass
· Tile adhesive
· Pencil
· Paper
· Marker
· Hammer
· Mosaic tile craft grout
· Sponge
· Grout float
· Paper towel
· White vinegar
· Spray bottle
· Gloves
· Painters tape
Step 1: Start by Sketching a Design Onto a Piece of Paper
Step 2: Using a Marker, Transfer Your Design Onto the Wood
Step 3: Take Your Tile and Wrap It in a Cloth. Using a Hammer, Break the Tile.
(Note: It’s important to wrap your tiles in a cloth or wear safety goggles to protect your eyes)
Step 4: Gather Your Broken Tiles Into Color Categories
Step 5: Glue Each Piece Individually
Note: Make sure the pieces are fairly close together so your grout lines look neat in the end
Hint: Using two different colors in one color, gives it a lot of dimension
Step 6: Let Glue Sit for 24 Hours
Step 7: Spread the Grout Using a Grout Float; Press Very Hard to Get in Between All Cracks and Crevices
Allow the grout to set for 20 minutes
Note: Don’t hide or completely cover any pieces
Hint: Cover the sides of the wood with painters tape to prevent grout stains

I'm new also. But the "tiles" are pieces of china dishes or any pretty glass, china or pottery. Whatever breaks that makes us sad. Hope this helps. I'm making a very large Mosiac on my first try. wish me luck!!

I don't see why not, the tile adhesive is very strong. The only problem I see happening is when it comes to the grouting process
