Introduction: How to Play Fantasy Football (Success Not Guaranteed)

Fantasy Football is a game in which people make a league with their friends and draft players in the NFL (National Football League) to be on their fantasy team. Each team will have a game every week where they will face another team in the league. The goal is to score the most points. There are several ways to score points: rushing yards, receiving yards, passing yards, and touchdowns. Whichever team scores the most points wins.

There are many ways to be successful in Fantasy Football, but I will only tell you three ways. The first way is drafting at the beginning of the season. You need to draft players who have proven that they can be consistent. The second way is by picking the right lineup; you need to have the players in that will produce big points. The third way to be successful is by picking up good players. You need to know which players will keep producing and which ones will be duds in the future.

Step 1: Having a Good Draft

The draft is the most important part of fantasy football and also the most exciting. It can be very stressful and disastrous if you do not have a good strategy or knowledge of the players going into the draft. The key to being satisfied with the results is to know what the best strategy is in order to have a good team. The strategy I use is to pick both running backs first, then your wide receivers, a tight end, and finally your quarterback. You need to have a good knowledge of the players before the draft and it is recommended to look up player stats and predictions prior to the draft if you don't feel confident in your knowledge of the players. Players to be avoided are players that can score big points but don't score well consistently. The best players to draft are the ones who will rack up lots of yardage and the occasional touchdown. Touchdowns are big points, but aren't very easy to come by. Players who only score touchdowns without much yardage should be left alone because they will let you down a lot on the weeks that they fail to find the end zone. Success will come as long as you stick to your draft strategy and do not stress out too much. Remember, it's just a game; have fun with it.

Step 2: Starting the Right Roster

Starting the right players each week is extremely important. The key is to not over think it. Players that have proven themselves in every week before the current one are no-brainers; you have to start them. Where it gets tricky is when you have players who failed to produce the week before or players who are facing a bad matchup in the upcoming week. This is where you have to follow your gut and not over think it. When you start to be indecisive and switch players in and out every day is when you will end up with a losing roster. Start the players that you drafted. You should have drafted proven and consistent players. You need to trust them to do their jobs.

Another trouble spot is dealing with injuries or bye weeks. You need to find someone to fill in for your player who will not be playing in the current week. It may be hard to find someone who can fill in for them and put up the same points. The simple truth is that you probably won't find anyone who can fill their spot exactly how the other player did; however, there are players who can at least score somewhere near their predecessor. The move that you need to make is to find someone who can come up with decent numbers and you just need to hope that one of your other players can have a big week to fill the hole in your lineup.

Step 3: Picking Up Players to Help Your Team

One of the best ways to bring in new talent to bolster your team's strength is to pick up good players. Sometimes it can be hard to pick through all the unheard of players in the league's free agency list. The players in here are the players in the NFL that play for actual teams but just weren't selected for any fantasy football teams in the draft. Most players that you will see in here are players who are not worth picking up, much less starting. Sometimes though, there are good players that were missed in the draft or players who have risen out of the shadows during the football season. In order to find good players in the free agency list, you must figure out why they weren't drafted. This could be due to injury, inconsistency, fading career, on a bad team, etc. If you honestly can't think of a reason why they were not drafted, then it might be worth it to pick them up and let them sit on your team's bench for a week or two before you decide what to do with them. If they keep producing good numbers, keep them. If they don't do well, throw them out. Just remember to take your time before making your mind on any particular player.

Step 4: Conclusion

I taught you about Fantasy Football and several methods to success in your league. I told you how to draft well, how to decide who to put on your starting roster, and how to decide if a player is worth picking up off of the free agency list. I hope this is enough to lead you to success with your respective teams and I wish you the best of luck!
