Intro: How to Properly Sharpen a Knife

STEP 1: Gathering Supplys

You will need your knife, a whetstone, and a strop.

STEP 2: Using the Course Side of the Whet Stone

Rub you knife back and forward until you have covered the knife

STEP 3: Using the Fine Side of the Wetstone

Rub your knife back and forward on the wet stone until you have covered the entire knife

STEP 4: Using the Strop

Rub the knife back and forth covering the entire blade until finished.

STEP 5: Finished

There is no "wrong" way to sharpen a knife, do what works best for you, but may I make a suggestion? Don't scrub in a back and forth motion beyond the coarse stone. Once on to the fine, just push toward the sharp edge. And once on to the strip, you SHOULD NOT push, Burt pull away from the edge.
Could u add to this the angle in which to rub the knife? I've always tried to do this, but consistently end up with a duller blade. Often times I find that I have in fact rounded the edge. How small should the angle be? And how doubles it at that angle?
