How to scavenge and collect electronic parts and components for use in your various electronics projects.
Pretty simple instructional dissecting a few electronics ( Flatscreen TV) (Desktop PC) and detailing some of the parts recovered from said devices.

Old TV's PC's,Radios,Game Consoles....Skip Raiding maybe a pretty dangerous and crumby  thing to do! up until the point where someone finds a brand name all but new surround sound stereo system,or even new large flatscreen TV's with nothing but a blow plug fuse i have seen it happen and people find things worth £200 and up skip raiding! so its a must try, also bits of 2x4 hardwood & corrugated plastics are often dumped and have many other uses in your projects, baseboard, project boxes etc. (Skip raiding its a good idea to glove up with some heavy duty gloveage, alot of glassy and sharp things get throw in skips, expect cuts)

Parts expected from old TV & PC.
L.E.D'S,Transistors,Resisters,Toroid beads,,Blocking Diodes, alot of copper&magnetic coil wire, scrap wires,13amp fuses or fast blow fuses, various switches, relays, potentiometers, transformers various size, block pin inputs solder less breadboard kind, heatcinks, fans, old ram, power supplys likely dead from weathering outdoors or in a shed etc,but parts will be useable after a hour of desoldering, large capacitors 200v+,transformers,resistors & transistors, more aluminium heatsinks, attached to voltage regulating gates of various ratings, many microcontroller chips, alot of heavy gauge electronic wire, more copper coil, and more, plenty of smaller capacitors are to be had off old motherboards from older model dead PC's with software issues or just to old and slow to go near, the parts however are usable in other projects such as uninterruptable  solar power supply  with the lower rating capacitors, joule thief construction with Toroid beads,Bridge Rectifier's from Blocking Diodes and much much more use your imagination.

Step 1: Where and What.

Skips are an obvious place to raid for electronics.
Around the streets, check outside garages, and garbage/rubbish dumps local ones, illegal electronics dumping is common, and almost never disposed of by any other means then burying it and wandering off into the sunset hoping that 100thousand years after your gone, someone does not build a town ontop of said dump! so recycling parts stop them going to the landfill or at less lessens the amount of useful parts going there.

Your Shed most people throw old electronics in the shed and forget about them years later, maybe a small old TV,local neighbours throwing out old electronics a TV so on.

Step 2: Massive Amounts of High Spec Parts.

See Pictures for info.

Step 3: Small List of Things I Have Obtained Free.

L.E.D'S,Transistors,Resisters,Toroid beads,,Blocking Diodes,alot of copper&magnetic coil wire,scrap wires,13amp fuses or fast blow fuses,various switches,relays,potentiometers,transformers various size,block pin inputs solder less breadboard kind,heatsinks,fans,old ram,power supply parts,large capacitors 200v+,many micro controller chips,alot of heavy gauge electronic wire,screws & washers,bolts,usb inputs and outputs,AV Inputs,PCI Cards Various intact,and much much more.

Step 4: PC/PSU Power Supply Unit Parts.

Here Will be Listed The Components i found Inside your typical PC Power supply, only a few parts were burned out it could have been repaired with some specific parts, however its the parts inside i am after for other projects.

Many parts are inside with which to make many gadgets from Joule thief's to Solar Charge Regulators to charge phones/tablets/mp3's etc....See picture for info.
