How to Start a Conversation!

Intro: How to Start a Conversation!

I often have awkward moments when there is
NOTHING to talk about! ( You can hear crickets in the background!) I used to be pretty bad at starting conversations, but I have improved - it's a very valuable skill! So I will share a few tips about starting a conversation with anyone!

STEP 1: Ask Questions!

Asking questions is a good way to start a
conversation - and learn about the person your talking to. Just ask: What's your favourite colour? Favourite singer? It's easy thinking of questions!

Here is a conversation using questions!

"What's your favourite animal?"
"Dogs!"
" Me too!"
"I have a pet dog!"
"What kind of dog is it!"
"A Japanese Spitz!"
"Really! I love those dogs!"

Pretty simple. Keep asking questions, until you get a good conversation going!

STEP 2: Ask What They Have Been Doing!

You can ask what they have done in the weekend or in their free time!

"What have you been up to in the weekends?"
" I went to Auckland!"
" Really! It's very nice over there, what did
you do there?"
"I went to Rainbow's End!"
"Oh, lucky! The roller coasters sound fun!"

So, if they claim they did nothing in their free time, here is a few pointers.

"What have you been up to in the weekends?"
" Nothing...."
"I heard a new swimming pool opened downtown!"
" Really?"
"Yeah, you should go!"
"Now I know what to do in the weekends! Thanks!"

STEP 3: The End!

I agree, but a subtle question every now and then doesn't hurt
Lol! It's just if you are horrible at starting conversations, but you want to try and would like some tips. I agree with dr_peru, sometimes trying to hard is a bit weird.
Ashley that guy is so mean! dr_peru you need to stop being mean, instead of searching for a topic, do this instructables!

Sometimes, not having a conversation can be less awkward than desperatly searching for a topic of one. If there´s nothing to talk about, just don´t talk, relax and smile - nothing bad or unfriendly about that.

this is really cool! Thanks!
