Introduction: How to Tie a Square Knot/Reef Knot
This is a knot to bond 2 strings together.
Step 1: Gather Your 2 Strings
Step 2: Step 1
Fold String 1 in on itself to create a loop
Step 3: Step 2
Put the end of String 2 through the look going under-over so thatString 2 comes to rest beyond the loop as shown in picture
Step 4: Step 3
Push String 2 Behind String 1 so that it comes out the other side
Step 5: Step 4
Push String 2 around the loop and back through the loop like in step 2 accept from the other direction

thanks for the tip. I wouldn't use this for that anyways because there are many more practical knots for the job

Do not use the square/reef knot to bond to strings together if they will be put under load. In other words, if you'll be pulling on the two ends, don't use this knot. It can "capsize," which allows it to just slip off.

The sheet bend is a more secure bend for joining two ropes.
