Introduction: How to Use Periscope on Android
Periscope is a live video broadcast app, owned by Twitter.
The application allows you to make and follow live broadcasts, created by users from all around the world.
Step 1: Download Periscope From Play Store
Head over to Google Play Store and find Periscope. Click Install. You will be presented with a lengthy list of permissions (typical for a social app). Accept the permissions and wait for the download to complete.
You will then see Periscope icon in your app drawer. The application is now ready for use.
Step 2: Setting Up Your Account
Open up Periscope application.
The app will first present you with 4 scrollable pages offering information on how to use the application. You can read the introduction by scrolling the pages one by one or tap Skip in the top right corner of the page.
Tap Get Started button.
Tap Sign in with Twitter button. Use your Twitter account details to sign into Periscope. If you don't yet have a Twitter account, you will need to create one first.
Periscope will then ask you to choose a Username and present you with a list of people to follow (based on your Twitter account). You can choose to follow all of them, choose individually or tap Skip at the bottom of the page.
Step 3: Navigating Periscope
When your account is set up, you will be taken to the app directly.
You will see a list of broadcasts that you can watch right now as well as three buttons in the top left corner of the screen, that can help you manage what types of broadcasts you see.
"TV" will show you live broadcasts by those in your contact list.
"Globe" will let you see a random selection of broadcasts from around the world.
"People" will introduce you to the most popular users on the network.
If you want to comment on a broadcast, you can type in the Say Something section at the bottom of the screen.
If you want to "like" a broadcast, tap it once. On Periscope, you can "like" one broadcast several times.
Step 4: Create Your Own Broadcast
On the home page of the app, while looking through your broadcast feed, you will see a red camera icon.
Tap on the red camera icon.
You will be asked to give your broadcast a title (choose something relevant to your video so that people can easily find it).
You will be able to choose whether your broadcast will be Public (available to all on the network), or Private (available to a selection of users in your contact list).
After you have chosen your options, tap the red Start Broadcast button.
Note: Make sure you have a reliable Wi-Fi connection before going ahead with the broadcast, at it will require a lot of data exchange.
