Introduction: How to Apply Gold Leaf Featuring Fall Pumpkins

About: Furniture Painting, DIY Crafts and Home Thrift Decor

Hi instructables friends! Today, I am going to share how I revived these trash-bound dollar store pumpkins using white cream chalk paint and Gold Leaf! At first, I was planning to put together a furniture makeover with Gold Leaf but I decided to practice using it on a smaller project.

Gold leaf is gaining popularity in paintings, diy crafts, gold decoration and other projects, so I hope this makeover will spark some ideas. :)

Supplies

  • Oval Medium Paint Brush
  • Chip Brush
  • Chalk Mineral Paint(Rich Cream With Yellow Undertones)
  • 5 x 5 Gold Leaf Sheets
  • Mod Podge Glue

Step 1: Cleaning the Dollar Store Pumpkins

Here what I started with. I wiped the pumpkins to remove dust and other dirt that may hinder the adhesion of paint.

Step 2: Painting the Pumpkins

I painted the pumpkins with cream which is I think a good compliment for gold making it look classic and elegant.

Step 3: Gold Leaf Sheets

I bought mine from Amazon, they are made from mainly copper that imitates a gold. It can easily make your crafts attractive.

Step 4: Applying the Gold Leaf

Now for the FUN part, I applied the Mod Podge Glue and Patted on a sheet of Gold Leaf.

Then, I used a soft brush and brushed it on where I wanted heavy coverage and then stippled on the glue where I wanted little flakes.

Step 5: Let It Dry.

Look at those beautiful gold sheets. They really sparkle like jewels and making them perfect for any staging or decor especially this fall season. I hope this inspires you to try applying gold leaf on your projects. I only used 6 sheets for this makeover, so I have 96 sheets to go! Have fun p
