Introduction: How to Build a Wall Locker
Now that our son is in Kindergarten we needed to get organized for the school year. We built this wall locker to help keep track of the important things... backpack, folder, and a chalkboard to remind us of upcoming events. This wall locker is a simple build and has been a huge help with staying organized.
Step 1: Cut List
I've provided a cut list above to show the layout for the cuts. The beadboard and chalkboard should be cut to size later on.
Step 2: Assemble Frame
Once the 1x3's have been cut down to size, begin to assemble the frame using pocket holes and 1-1/4" pocket hole screws.
Step 3: Install Backs
Measure and cut beadboard and chalkboard to fit. I painted each prior to attaching to frame then glue in place using wood glue.
Step 4: Install Folder Holder & Hook
Install the folder holder flush with the top of the 1x3 using wood glue and 1-1/4" brad nails. Once this folder holder is installed you can add hook centered on the 1x3 below the folder holder.
Step 5: Attach to Wall
Now that the locker is assemble, its time to attach to the wall. Install keyhole hangers to the back of the locker using 3/4" wood screws. Tighten to the point that the wood screw head fits correctly within the keyhole. Then install drywall anchors or locate stud and screw in 2" wood screw. Now its time to hang your wall locker.
