Steps To Clean The Cooler

Below, we have listed down some steps that you need to follow to clean your stinking cooler. Make sure to follow these steps properly to remove the odor from your cooler.

STEP 1: Remove Debris From Cooler

The first thing that you will have to do is to clean the debris from the cooler. Use a nozzle spray to get all these particles outside. Make sure that you have cleaning cloth and toothbrush handy to clean the interior of the cooler and wipe off the dust and particles in the corners.

STEP 2: Apply Soapy Water

Prepare a solution of water and soap and clean the interior of the cooler. Make sure to get warm water for this purpose. Ensure that all the areas are thoroughly cleaned including corners, lid and even the drain plug. Once you clean the drain plug, make sure to open it and scrub it as well since the odor can gather there as well. If the bad smell still prevails inside the cooler, follow the next step.

STEP 3: Use Baking Soda

Even after you have used the soapy solution, there still remains some stubborn stain that deserves your attention. Sprinkle the small pellets of Baking soda into the inside of the cooler and use a soft brush to scrub. Close the lid and leave cooler unattended for an hour or two. Once you do this, make sure to rinse the cooler. See if there is any other stain that has been left unattended.

STEP 4: Try Using Bleach Solution

Make a solution of chlorine bleach and water in a water spray. Make sure to spray it inside the cooler, lid and drain plug. Make sure to wear protective gloves so that you can avoid hurting yourself while you spray the solution inside the ice chest. Leave the cooler open and unattended for a few hours. The solution will kill any odor prevailing inside the chest and remove the stain as well. Rinse the cooler and make sure to repeat this process if you still smell any odor inside the chest.
