Introduction: How to Clean an Optical Disc

About: http://theworldofstuffdiy.weebly.com

If you have ever had a disc that just would not play your old music mixtape or your kid scratched up your prized copy of "The Bee Move" this is just what you need. It probably won't cost much and it most likely to work.

Step 1: Soap It Up

You will need to spay an appropriate amount of you cleaning fluid on the disc, then quickly before it dries clean it off with the cloth.

Step 2: Buff It

With the non cover side facing the sanding/ buffing wheel press power and wait for it to complete one full rotation. If you have particularly deep scratches do one extra cycle.

Step 3: Polish

Use the polishing pad that most likely came with your machine to, in combination with the fluid, polish and dry the disk.

Step 4: Finish

If you have completed all steps do the following

1.

If you got some prints or dirt on the disk afterwards repeat steps 1 and 3 again then try your disk

2.

If you have tried your disk and it does not work after one cycle in the buffing machine do another cycle and repeat step 3 (DO NOT DO ANY MORE THAN 3 CYCLES AS IT MAY PERMANENTLY DAMAGE THE DATA)

3.

If most of the scratches are gone but it will not work, I'm sorry but your only other option is to get it professionally cleaned.

4.

If it works hooray, but try to be more careful, as a second attempt and the repair may damage your disk beyond repair.
