How to Cook a Kangaroo Burger

Introduction: How to Cook a Kangaroo Burger

Australia is one of the few countries that eat their coat of arms.

If you haven’t tried Kangaroo before you need to because it has a beautiful rich flavour and is extremely healthy.

  • 500g Kangaroo Mince
  • Fresh Rosemary
  • 2 Cloves of Garlic
  • Salt and Pepper
  • Lettuce
  • Wash Brined Cheese
  • Beetroot Sweet
  • Onion Relish Burger Bun

Step 1: To Start of You’ll Need Kangaroo Mince.

Most supermarkets in Australia stuck kangaroo and I know they export a lot overseas.

In a bowl add 500gs of mince.

Step 2: Seasoning the Kangaroo Mince

Chop up some fresh rosemary, fresh will work best in this case.

Grate two cloves of garlic into the bowl.

Kangaroo has a strong taste so it needs strong flavours.

Season with salt.

And freshly grounded black pepper.

Mix the seasoning into the mince.

Form patties that are slightly larger than your buns because they will shrink as they cook.

Step 3: Setup Up the BBQ

Setup up the BBQ for direct grilling, you want the BBQ really nice and hot.

Place your patties directly over the charcoal.

Cook for 4 to 5 minutes before flipping and cooking for another 4 to 5 minutes.

Kangaroo meat is very lean so be careful not to over cook your patties.

Step 4: When the Patties Are Close to Being Done, Put Your Buns on to Toast.

Place a layer of washed rind cheese on top of each patty.

This type of creamy cheese work beautifully with game meats.

Once the buns are toasted and the cheese has begun to melt its time to build this burger.

Step 5: Building a Kangaroo Burger!

First a layer of lettuce.

It would truly be an Aussie burger without beetroot.

Than add the patty topped with the cheese.

To finish it off spoon of some onion relish.

Place the bun on top

Step 6: Done!

This burger is packed full of flavour and the kangaroo tastes amazing.

If you haven’t tried kangaroo before, I highly recommend you do.
