How to Create a Cursor Theme in Windows Vista

By default, the custom cursors from Windows 95 up to XP contains 3D-Bronze, 3D-White, Conductor, Dinosaur, Hands 1, Hands 2, Old Fashioned, Variations, Windows Animated, Black, Inverted, and Standard cursor themes. In Windows Vista, the Aero cursor theme was introduced. In Windows 7, all cursor themes except Windows Black, Inverted, Standard, and Aero were removed.

Step 1: Step 1: Open Control Panel

Click on the Start button, and then click Control Panel.

Tip: You can simply right click on an empty area of the desktop and click Personalize.

Step 2: Step 2: Open Personalization

After opening Control Panel, click on Appearance and Personalization, click Personalization, and then click Mouse Pointers.

Step 3: Step 3: Change Your Mouse Pointer

After opening Mouse Pointers, click on the Pointers tab. You will see a list of pointers. Click on one of them, click Browse, find your cursor file, click Open, and repeat this step if needed.

Step 4: Step 4: Save Your Theme

Click on Save As, and then type the name of the cursor theme, and then click OK
