This is a in depth tutorial on how to create the files used in the "How to Create the Hero's Shield From the Legend of Zelda: the Wind Waker" instructable.

Step 1: Import an Image of Your Shield

First you want to find a image of the shield online, and then import it into inkscape.

Step 2: Create a Bitmap of the Shield

Select the shield and then press Shift+Alt+B this will pull up the trace bitmap screen. Use the settings above to create a bitmap of the shield. After you have selected your settings press OK to create the bitmap.

Step 3: Clear Any Unwanted Nodes From Your Shield Bitmap

There may be unwanted lines on the bitmap image.If you want to get rid of this you need to select and delete the nodes from the bitmap. Please note that this process can be very tedious but it's important to insure a good looking file.

Step 4: Save and Export Your Bitmap to the Glowforge

Once you've cleaned up your file you are ready to export the file to the glowforge. It's now up to you on how to print your shield and what size you want it to be.
