Step 1: Materials:
3 Loops & Threads, Charisma, Chocolate Cupcake Yarn Balls
Size H or I crochet hook
I use this yarn because it's a chunky yarn. Any chunky yarn would work.
Step 2: Single:
Crochet 80 single stitches (for a size 10/12 girls - adjust the stitches higher or lower for size)
Step 3: Loop:
Loop the 80th single stitch back and chain together to form a circle.
Step 4: Double Crochet:
Double crochet in all single stitches from the chain above -- add 3 extra double stitches anywhere in this row.
Step 5: Chain:
Chain 2
Step 6: Double Crochet:
Double crochet in all stitches in the row above -- add 4 double crochet stitches anywhere into this row.
Step 7: Chain:
Chain 2
Step 8: Continue:
Continue double crocheting and adding 5, 6, 7, 8, 9, extra double crochets incrementally to each additional step.
Keep going until you have the desired length.
Step 9: Finishing:
To add a bit of flare to the bottom of the poncho,
Chain 2
Double crochet 4 times into the next chain.
Chain 2
Double crochet 4 times into the next chain.
Chain 2

Very nice, except this would take me 9 steps....I have yet to find a decent set of instructions to show me how to crochet (my first step then is to learn to crochet in the first place. ;-)
