Introduction: How to Crochet an Eight-petal Flower (#1 - Small)

Good evening guys! =D

In today's Instructable, I want to share with you the pattern to crochet a pretty eight-petal flower =).

It's perfect for beginners because you only need to know the basic stitches and crochet techniques =D.

Let's begin! ^_^

P.S.

Don't forget to watch the video tutorial =)

0:50 Gauge (stitch measurement)

Step 2: Materials

- Crochet hook (D3).

- Yarn (sport weight yarn).

- Scissors.

- Tapestry needle (pointless).

Step 3: Gauge

The flower that you saw at the beginning of the tutorial was 2.3 inches long and wide. In my case, I used a D3 hook and a sport weight yarn.

If you used this type of hook and yarn, in 2 inches you should have 9 stitches.

2" = 9 stitches (single crochet)

Step 4: Pattern / Chart

First round:

In a magic ring we are going to start working three chain stitches and sixteenDouble Crochet.

To finish the first round, work a slip stitch to join the first and the last Double Crochet.

Second round:

Make three chain stitches, skip a Double Crochet of the last round, and in the next one work a slip stitch.

Repeat this pattern seven more times.

I recommend you to make the last slip stitch in the first chain of the round.

Third round:

Start with a slip stitch in the nearest three-chain space, make two chain stitches, three Double Crochet, two chain stitches and finally a slip stitch.

Repeat this pattern in all the spaces of three chains.

Step 5: Step by Step (round 1)

To begin with the flower, we must have a magic ring, which is a basic crochet technique whose Instructable is HERE.

Step 6: Step by Step (round 1)

Once that we have the magic ring, we are going to work two chain stitches, to have a total of three chain stitches at the beginning of the round (remember that the first chain stitch of the round is the one that we worked to secure the magic ring).

To make a chain stitch: yarn over and pull the hook through the loop that was already on it.

Step 7: Step by Step (round 1)

Once that we have the three chain stitches, we are going to work sixteen Double Crochet in the magic ring.

To make a Double Crochet: yarn over, pass the hook through the ring, yarn over again, pull the hook (by now you must have three loops on it), yarn over and pull the hook through the first two loops, yarn over again and pull the hook through the last two loops on it.

Step 8: Step by Step (round 1)

To finish the first round, in the first Double Crochet of the round, we are going to work a slip stitch.

To make it: pass the hook through the top of the stitch, yarn over, pull the hook, pull the hook again but now through the first loop on it (counting from right to left).

Step 9: Step by Step (round 2)

We’re going to work three chain stitches, skip one Double Crochet of the last round and in the next one work a slip stitch.

Pattern for this round: three chain stitches, skip one Double Crochet of the last round and work a slip stitch in the next stitch. Repeat it, until you have eight spaces, of three chains each.

Step 10: Step by Step (round 2)

To finish the second round, we are going to work a slip stitch in the first chain of the round.

Step 11: Step by Step (round 3)

The next pattern is going to be the one that we are gonna work in each space of three chains.

- A slip stitch in the nearest three chain space.

- Two chain stitches.

- Three Double Crochet.

- Two chain stitches and a slip stitch to finish.

Step 12: Step by Step (round 3)

To finish, close the magic ring and finish off.

Thank you so much for your visit! =)

Keep having an amazing day because you're an amazing person! =D
