Intro: How to Do a 4-Strand Braid

Want to try a fun 4-stranded or Celtic Knot braid? Thea, our beauty and trends expert shows you how in 4 easy steps! Keep on reading to find out how to do a four stranded braid!

Step-by-Step:

1. Pull Hair to One Side.

Tip: Start with dry, brushed out hair.

2. Braid Your Hair. Number the strands 1-4 to keep them straight in your mind. Thea starts with the farthest one away from her face as number 1. Braid number 1 over 2 and 3 over 4 and then 4 over 1. Then renumber for each braid sequence. Remember: 1 over 2, 3 over 4, 4 over 1. Repeat all the way down and tie with a hair tie.

3. Adjust the Braid. Flatten the braid out to see the intricate braiding work.

Tip: Pin your bang back it if is long for a medieval look.

4. Finish with Hairspray. Here Thea uses Clairol Herbal Essences Body Envy.

Is there a certain length that your hair has to be? I tried it, my hair is about shoulder length and I almost immediately ran out of hair. Just wondering

Totally awesome. I have to go to church for an early Thanksgiving dinner, even though Thanksgiving's on Thursday. I tried this like 10 times without looking it up because I thought I could do it. I messed up. After this, I will never forget it. :)
