How to Draw Autumnal Fairy - Watercolor Pencils Tutorial

In this tutorial I will show you how to paint a super cute autumnal fairy using watercolor pencils.

MATERIALS: watercolor pencils, pencil, eraser, watercolor paper, brushes, water, white gel pen.

Step 1: Sketch

First we start with a rough sketch of the scene (FIGURE 1).

Once we have done with the sketch, we start adding details of the fairy, the snail, and the mushroom.

Step 2: Coloring the Fairy

I have chosen autumnal colors for the fairy: orange, red, yellow, brown and light green.

I started painting from the hat and I gradually went down to the shoes ( to not smudge the paint).

I first colored as normal pencils and then I applied water with the brush over it.

Please clean your brush every time you change color!

Step 3: Mushroom + Snail

I continued painting the snail and the mushroom using the same technique as before.

I retraced few lines with purple pencil to increase the contrast.

Step 4: White Details

Once the painting dried, I retraced few line with white gel pen.

White pen is very useful to highlight small details.

Step 5: End!
