Intro: How to Hammer a Nail Into a Piece of Wood and Pry It Out

This is a nail that I hammered in to a piece of wood

STEP 1: Gather Your Supplies

You will need to get a Hammer, a nail, a piece of wood and a pair of safety goggles or glasses.

STEP 2: Hammering the Nail

For this step you will have to take your nail and hold the sharp end of the nail against the wood and powerfully hit the top of the nail with your hammer until it pierces the wood.

STEP 3: Prying the Nail Out of the Wood

For the last step you will take the split end of your hammer and have the nail in-between it and twist the hammer so it pulls the nail out of the wood

Large nails can readily cause wood to split. Counterintuitively to prevent that you slightly flatten the sharp end by turning the nail over and hitting the point with the hammer before hammering the nail in. How hard takes a bit of experimentation and depends on nail size.
