1. Where to highlight: The mid-forehead; the brow bone; the cheekbone; the bridge of the nose; the jawline; the cupid's bow; the chin.

2. Types of highlighters: You can use a cream, stick, pen or powder highlighter. Use fingers or a sponge to apply all but the powder. For that you'll want a stiff-bristled brush.

3. Get ready: Even out your skin tone with foundation, if needed.

4. Less is more: Use a circular motion to apply highlighter to your cheekbones, and up-and-down motions for your nose and forehead, chin and cupid's bow. Use just a bit.

Tip: Use a sponge to take off any excess when you are done.
