Introduction: How to Make Bubble Blower Machine With Bubble Speed Control Feature

About: Just want to explore the vastness of science and make useful stuffs!!

Hello Readers, In this Instructables, I have made a Bubble blower that can control bubble generation Speed, Yeah you heard it right

This bubble blower machine can blow bubbles as per your needs, If you are at a party and if you need lots and lots of bubbles say hi to this machine!

The interesting thing here is it is made at home and yes it is not soo complicated to build as you might think.

If you see my earlier projects I have made a Bubble blower with a CD and DC motor fan. But in this version, I have done major upgrades by using 3D-printed parts, a Powerful air blower, and a powerful servo, This is Version 2 of the Bubble Blower

What is a Bubble Blower Machine?

By the name, you will know that it is a device for making/generating and blowing bubbles.

Bubbles are an essential part of a Party or some outdoor fun events, and unlike the conventional bubble blowers that come with a hefty price this bubble blower machine can be built at a fraction of the cost, If you are a hobbyist creator/maker you must definitely build this.

What is special about this Bubble-Blowing Machine?

This machine comes with a speed control feature that can increase or decrease the speed of bubble bubble-making wheel which in turn will affect the bubble generation process.

The powerful DC fan gives out steady air blow to this bubble wheel generating bubbles like no other machine.

The batteries provide a very long backup time so you can enjoy the party without worrying about charging this device.

To begin with, let us gather the essential things required to build this, And Yes there is a working video given in the end that is worth watching.

Supplies

  • DC fan or few call it a PC fan
  • Lithium Ion battery with holder and a switch
  • 3.7v Lithium-ion Flat battery
  • DC motor speed controller
  • Piece of Wood
  • Micro servo motor with continuous rotation
  • Plastic juice container to hold the liquid
  • Hot glue
  • 3D printer
  • PLA filament
  • Philip Screwdriver
  • Slicing software

Step 1: Design of Bubble Wheel

I made the Bubble wheel using Tinkercad software, I designed all the parts for this project from Scratch., You must definitely check Tinkercad if you are a maker.

The design was made taking account of the servo that I will be using, If you are planning to use another type of motor the design might need some modification, If you are using a micro servo this will work perfectly.

To hold the servo I made this holder, if you have these 2 parts you can make this bubble-making machine using almost any base that can be of wood or plastic material.

If you are planning to use this design I have given their STL files below.

Once you have the files slice them with the slicer, I used Cura slicer and you can see the settings and layout of my model in the pictures.

Both of the models do not require any rafts or supports while printing.

After the model is sliced, save the Gcodes in the SD card and feed to the 3D printer.

Step 2: 3D Printing

I will be using PLA filament to print the parts.

It will take less than an Hour to print the models, and there is no need for any post-processing since we didn't use rafts or additional support with the model.

After the print is complete we have the Bubble Wheel ready, While taking out the wheel from the print mat make sure you are removing this wheel with extra care.

Since the wheel is very light in weight applying more pressure might cause cracks.

The Other part also known as the servo stand was printed in yellow color, Well the choice of color is yours.

You can print the part with the color of your own choice, Note that use only PLA filament to print the parts.

Step 3: Preparing Bubble Wheel

The stand that we just 3D printed will hold the servo and the servo in turn will hold the Bubble Wheel.

Make a note that I'm using a continuation rotation servo which has only 2 wires and can rotate 360 degrees.

Start by gluing the servo stand to the base of the wooden board, After the glue is dry completely add the plastic container that will hold the liquid.

Make sure to use less temperature hot glue, as we are dealing with plastic things!

Now the only thing pending is adding the wheel, With the screws attaching the wheel to the shaft of the servo.

Now using hot glue couple the servo to the stand, You can now test the wheel and servo working by connecting the servo to a 3.7v battery.

There should not be any obstruction or touching parts near the wheel and it should work freely.

Step 4: Circuitry

The circuit comprises very basic connections, Here we have 2 different sets of circuits.

The first circuit is of a DC fan where I have used 2 lithium-ion rechargeable batteries connected with a switch to connect this to a DC fan.

I simply connected the positive side of the battery to the DC Fan while the negative side was connected via the switch.

The second circuit is Servo control, Note that in the circuit diagram, I have used a DC motor instead of a servo this is because I could not find a servo model with 2 wires, The connection remains the same.

The battery and servo wires are directly connected to the motor speed control module, This completes the circuit.

Now Glue the batteries to the board and on top of which I glued the DC fan, Finish the connections like in the circuit diagram.

I bet you have not seen anywhere such assembly capabilities.

Step 5: Getting Everything Together

I will be using the flat 3.7v lithium-ion battery to power the servo motor, Connect the wires from the servo and battery to the Motor speed control module, and secure the wires by tightening the screws.

If you Don't have this flat battery you can directly use the regular single lithium-ion battery with a holder as a replacement.

With some additional 3D printed parts (optional) I have secured this speed controller, Use medium-temperature hot glue to keep that in place.

This completes the setup required for this machine, Now we can test the project that I will be explaining in the next step.

Step 6: How to Use

Since you have built this by yourself using it is not a great thing! Yeah, you have made it to the end of the project and we will now have the fruit of our hard work!

To use this project all you have to do is power on the DC fan first followed by turning on the knob of the bubble wheel.

You can adjust the speed according to your requirement for bubbles.

I have tested this project outdoors as my indoor space was confined.

The results were just amazing and they exceeded my expectations, I used a liquid soap dishwasher as the liquid to generate bubbles.

Alternatively, shampoo or a detergent will do the job, But I recommend using dishwashing liquid.

This can generate a good amount of bubbles while using outdoors make sure that the wind is not too high from the opposite direction of the bubble as this might affect the bubble generation since we depend on the air that comes out of the DC fan for bubble generation.

Step 7: Working Video

So creators finally we will wind up this amazing project with a video, This video shows the bubble that is coming out from this machine and the effect of speed on the rate of bubbles.

That was all about this bubble blower project see you soon with another amazing project, Good Luck and thank you for reading.
