Introduction: How to Make DIY Lord Ganesha Sculpture

About: Robotics and aerospace are my passion and interest also I loves origami and 3D printing.

As Ganesh Chaturthi is approaching this August I thought why not to make Lord Ganesh Sculpture by using clay and water which is purely environment friendly way, Well those who don't know about this festival let me tell you its a festival celebrated in India on the account of Lord Ganesh birthday and it's widely popular throughout India.

Supplies

For the Supplies you are required -

  • Clay
  • Water
  • Clay tools or any sharp object will work
  • Cutter

Step 1: Starting With the Base

  • Before starting you might want some waste cloth or tissue because it will be a little messy also you will need this for smoothing the sculpture as well.
  • Take some clay and water and mix them gently with your hand.
  • Now take a support for example a glass or a bottle so that you can start by making the base means the legs part of Lord Ganesh.
  • Now pour the mixture of clay & water alongside the glass so that you get a circular cylinder.
  • Now make two Oval circles for both the legs and cross them together.
  • TIP- don't get panic if your shape is not getting perfect it will take time to settle, also the beauty of this sculpture is that you don't need to be perfect.

Step 2: Staring With the Middle

  • Now for the middle ( For Stomach ) make a big circular oval and place it above on the legs, Apply little water and leave it to dry.
  • Now For the hands take some clay and make thin cylinders join them to the main body you can give some embroidery with clay tools or you can use sharp objects like needle to make the fingers and other things like sweets etc.

Step 3: Staring With the Top

  • Now For making the head make a little smaller circular cone and stick it on the top of the middle section.
  • For the Ears you can make some random shape or you can refer from the internet but it should be very thin and then you can attach it with the head or the top.
  • Now you can give little details by using cutter or clay tools like for the eyes, the trunk etc.

Step 4: Extra Details

  • Now our main section is done and its time to give the little details like the crown, mouse and some embroidery part.
  • For making the crown make a circular cone and join this to the head part. For making the crown look real you can give your own designs and decorate this.
  • For mouse take some clay and make the main body and the head by giving the shape of oval, add necessary details according your wish.

Step 5: Done

Congratulations!!! you have made it !!! I hope you enjoyed this instructables and if you wish you can color this also or decorate in the way which you like.

Thank you and a very Happy Ganesh Chaturthi !!!
