Intro: How to Make Duct Tape Shoelaces

Are you tired of the flimsy shoelaces that always break or fray at the tips? Then you need duct tape to do the job! Duct tape is sturdy and won't fray, resulting in shoelaces that will last much longer! This is my first Instructable, so I'm still working on perfecting my skills as an "Instructor". Please feel free to leave comments!

STEP 1: Materials Needed

1) Duct Tape
2) Scissors (or hands that can rip duct tape)

STEP 2: Cut the Tape

Cut a continuous strip of duct tape that is 3 feet long.

STEP 3: Make It Into 2 Laces

Rip/Cut the strip into 2 equal pieces the long way. You should end up with two pieces of duct tape that are 3 feet long.

STEP 4: Make Them Wearable

Fold each strip of duct tape over itself so that there is still a little bit of sticky showing. Don't fold it over entirely, just until there is a third or so of the sticky part still showing. Fold the still sticky part on top of the non sticky part, making it so that no raw edges are showing on the sides. Cut the ends of each lace (totaling 4 ends) at a slight diagonal for style, if desired. If you want, you can fold a small piece of tape over the end (the diagonal part that you just cut), resulting in a more sturdy end.

are those duct tape shoes?! if so thats pretty freakin' awesome!
They're not actually made of duct tape, but they looked like they were, which is partially why I bought them. I wish! :)
I have found a site that lets you buy duct tape products, they include coats, shoes, wallets, ect. I checked it twice (over the course of a week) and found out that they update content regularly. http://tapedcoats.zxq.net/ I got the guts and payed them for sandals, and they sent a kit with them to easily turn them into shoes. They had great service and fast shipping, although they did tell me something about a wrong return shipping address (I honestly can't remember, and it's not important unless you are not satisfied with their products). Anyways, check it out! it's worth it.
where did you get them, they're awesome!
Marshalls, I believe. Converse also sells similar ones.
I decided to just put it into one step because it seemed so closely related. As far as photos goes, I'll try to put some up as soon as my camera is fixed. Thanks!
"Step 4" is several steps & needs photos.
