Introduction: How to Make Homemade Coasters

Beware this requires a steady hand!

Step 1: Materials

Gather your materials make sure to have:

Popsicle Sticks (10 for every one coaster)
Paint
Paintbrush
Paper Plate/ Paper Towel/ Piece of Paper
Multi-Purpose Glue
Ruler
Flat Surface
Flat Heavy Object (ie: textbook, iPad, etc.)

Step 2:

Lay five popsicle sticks out evenly spaced apart (about 1 1/2 centimeters) on a flat surface.

Step 3:

Put one dot of glue on one end (the same end) of each stick.

Step 4:

Lay one popsicle stick over the dots of glue.

Step 5:

Repeat steps 3 and 4 until five popsicle sticks are glued on top of the bottom five popsicle sticks.

Step 6:

Once all of the popsicle sticks are together place the flat heavy object (ie: textbook, iPad, etc.) on top of the entire coaster to secure the glue.

Step 7:

Set a timer and leave the object on top for 4 minutes.

Step 8:

Gently remove the object and make sure all of the sticks are secure and stuck together. If any come apart, glue them back on and place the heavy object back on top for another 4 minutes.

Step 9:

When you are positive that all sticks are all of the way secure get ready to paint!

Step 10:

Pour the paint on a plate, paper towel, or piece of paper and paint freely. Now is the time to have creative freedom… paint one side, both sides, patterns… whatever you would like to.

Step 11:

Let the paint air dry completely.

Step 12:

Enjoy the use of your homemade coaster!
